Winding Down

The End is Near!

Well we officially have 18 days and 1 wake up until the end of the school year. Which means we officially have 74 days until the start of 2014/2015!  One of my really good friends asked me if I could recap my year using movie titles which 5 movies would I use. So here ya go,

1. For the start of the school year, "Mean Girls"
I picked this movie for the start of the new year because I was quickly reminded that trying to fit in is a delicate balance and you have to stay true to who you are and what you believe in. My teachers were awesome, but they taught me a lot of lessons. Some were hard to swallow, others were delightful.

2. New implementations, "300"
Because I started in October and the teachers had already settled into their routines, trying to come in and make changes, that I thought would better us, met with some Spartan like fighting. I felt like the god king himself. I think I actually saw a teacher with a spear once, but I could be mistaken. LOL

3. Overseeing Procedures, "Mall Cop"
Being part of administration, but not being administrative is a hard balance. Teachers see you as the man, you see you as the mediator, and the principal sees you! My advice for "Middle Management" is build a good relationship with everyone. Make sure that you take a "This kids will succeed by any means necessary" approach. You aren't here to make friends, but it gets lonely in the middle. If everyone knows that you are about the children and their progress, you will make it.

4. Learning Curve, ANY OF THE NAKED GUNS or POLICE ACADEMIES!
I am able to reflect pretty well, so I have to say that there were some times that I came across a little slap stitckish. I literally laughed out loud at myself on several occasions, but growing takes making mistakes.

5. Now and forever "Finding Nemo",
This movie categorizes my year perfectly. I have learned that everyone comes to a point where they must "touch the butt boat!" My  job is to build them up and watch them soar, while allowing them to be themselves. I am hoping that my wonderful teachers see that I am trying to build them and not trying to change them.  My goal is that we have THE best students in the state of TEXAS! When you feel like all is lost and nobody is on your side, "Just Keep Swimming"

I love my teachers and I hope that they at least like me! :) I can't wait to continue this journey in 74 days.
